We are really pleased to confirm that the funding to convert the store room buildings pictured below, into community meeting rooms has been confirmed. The Youth Investment Fund and the EMB will meet the cost of the work which will also see the maintenance store room and workshop move into the existing cabin. The new meeting rooms will each have a kitchen and toilet, with one of the buildings being fully wheelchair accessible. Work is expected to begin in December and take around eight weeks to complete. The buildings will provide a modern, warm and welcoming space. Whilst it will be sad to say goodbye to the Neighbourhood Centre, we have come to accept that we won’t secure the funding needed to refurbish it. Plymouth City Council plan to carry out further consultation about what will happen to the Neighbourhood Centre and games area on Clowance Street, including the existing plan to build housing on the site.
